Selected projects

  • International Consultant to the SciELO e-journal and SciELO eBook in the areas of strategic alliances, technology strategies and platforms, business models, and marketing. 

 

  • Full evaluation performed of Chile’s national scientific digital library (BEIC) which supports research and education in Chile’s 25 public universities. The summary document summarizes the results of the entire consultancy.

 

  • Design, creation and implementation of a Second Life university campus for the Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia, fully integrated with Moodle/ Sloodle. The virtual campus provides student induction services, and role playing for ethics courses on the Colombian guerrilla conflict and drug war.  This project was judged by the RIBIE (Red Iberoamericana de Informática Educativa - RIBIE) among the top 12 educational projects in Colombia in 2011.

  • Invited expert to a one week meeting at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Campus to work on solutions to the dissemination of health information in the developing world using Web and mobile technologies.

  • On-going translations from Portuguese and Spanish into English of the majority of posts (as acknowledged at the end of the posts) of the SciELO in Perspective Blog.

Workshops & Conferences

Half day to one day workshops in social networks and Web technologies for researchers and librarians.

  • Designed and delivered Web 2.0 workshops for university researchers and professors, on behalf of the Colombian Ministry of Education, across major cities and universities of Colombia - Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Bucaramanga, Cali, Armenia.
  • Designed and delivered workshops on Web technologies in Mexico for academic librarians at ITESM, UNAM, BUAP, and CONPAB (national consortium of libraries of higher education).
